It includes a historical and cultural space (with direct access to the Louvre museum and a 600-seat amphitheater of the Louvre School - Rohan amphitheater), a 10,200 m2 shopping mall, open on Sundays and with many big-name stores.

Construction of the Carrousel-of-the-Louvre, included in the renovation of the Grand Louvre

Built as part of the Grand Louvre renovation by architects Ieoh Ming Pei and Michel Macary, it was opened to the public in 1993.

Located between the Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Gardens, the Carrousel du Louvre contains shops, the Salles du Carrousel and a studio theater of the Comédie Française. The Salles du Carrousel are also used for exhibitions and events.

Carrousel du Louvre, a special place, combining fashion and culture

Since 1993, this space has been home to the greatest gift and accessory brands, reflecting French excellence and art de vivre. Combining shopping and culture, the experience is unique: an immersion in a Parisian heritage site, a grandiose architecture, a direct access to the Louvre museum and the discovery of the iconic Inverted Pyramids of the Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei.
To help you and guide you through this essential part of a visit to the capital, the hosts and hostesses of the Carrousel-of-the-Louvre Reception are at your service: information, centralized tax exemption for foreign visitors, reservations (cab, hotel...), lost and found.

Statues from the now-defunct Palais des Tuileries

The statues that used to decorate the pediment of the Tuileries Palace (The Council and The Value by Thibault Poissant, Sincerity by Louis II Lerambert, Religion by Philippe de Buyster and the head of Justice by Michel De La Perdrix), are kept in the hall under the triumphal arch of the Carrousel, at the entrance to the Louvre Museum. La Sincérité and La Religion were installed in the park of the château de Maisons-Laffitte from 1912 to 1990. The head of La Justice joined the public collections in 1977, after having belonged to the Fossard collection.

The 5th pyramid, the inverted one

The main entrance pyramid of the Louvre Museum has 3 smaller sisters plus a fifth "medium-sized" one which has the particularity of having its point turned into the ground. In the main hall of the Carrousel you can see this particular "inverted" 5th pyramid - seen from below.
