The fashion of Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, style never,” and this maxim still guides the brand. Black and white are Chanel’s two iconic colors. The Chanel woman combines femininity and masculinity, sporting a pearl necklace, a tweed suit. She is refined and free-spirited.

Chanel Royale, the store reopened in December 2023

"Chanel Royale", the boutique located at 25, rue Royale, right in the heart of the Madeleine district, has been fully renovated and reimagined as part of a year-long project.

The 420-square-meter space, spread over two levels, is organized around a glass elevator and a double-height white marble staircase. It has two separate entrances, one on Rue Royale and the other in Cité Berryer. It is one of the most chic hidden passages in the capital, renamed Village Royal in the 1990s and home to several luxury brands.

Chanel Royale and its decoration by architect Peter Marino

The new layout of "Chanel Royale" follows the concept developed by architect Peter Marino for Chanel. This includes the house’s color codes (gold, black, unbleached white) accented with shades of blue, red and pink. The ambiance is hushed, intimate and elegant, featuring precious materials such as stucco, lacquered panels, marble, granite and onyx.

Fashion accessories and ready-to-wear

At the entrance, on the first floor, a space is dedicated to accessories, including costume jewelry, sunglasses and handbags. At the back of the boutique, you’ll find small leather goods, watches, jewelry and additional bag styles.

The store also offers ready-to-wear fashion, featuring the latest collections by creative director Virginie Viard, as well as:

Fashion accessories
Perfumes
Jewelry and watches

A sculpture to evoke Mademoiselle Chanel

A distinctive feature of the store is the spiral sculpture “White Golden Lasso,” composed of stainless steel beads. These are plated with white gold leaves and suspended from the ceiling near the staircase. It is reminiscent of the famous pearl necklace beloved by Mademoiselle Chanel, here reimagined in a monumental version over three meters tall. This installation by the artist Jean-Michel Othoniel can also be found in other Chanel boutiques.

Chanel boutiques in Paris and around the world

With the restructuring of the storefront on rue Royale, Chanel is strengthening its presence in Paris. Notably in the heart of the capital, where it has five other retail locations. At 19 rue Cambon, a new space opened in 2018, complementing the historic address at 31 rue Cambon. Also at 42 and 51 avenue Montaigne, as well as at 21 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

These shops are complemented by the flagship Chanel jewellery boutique, which reopened Place Vendôme after major renovations, as well as by Chanel’s dedicated spaces in the department stores. At Galeries Lafayette, Printemps and Le Bon Marché, and at La Samaritaine with a section exclusively dedicated to shoes. Not forgetting the three Chanel boutiques at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport.

In total, the company operates 220 Chanel boutiques worldwide.
