Further information on the walk from Palais-de-Chaillot to Arc-de-Triomphe via George-V Avenue
Walk from Palais-de-Chaillot to Arc-de-Triomphe: what else after the Avenue George V?
Avenue George V offers 2 options for a visit to the Champs-Elysées
- walk up the Champs-Elysées to Place Charles-de-Gaulle and Etoile (500 m). The “climb” from the Champs-Elysées to the Arc-de-Triomphe is documented in this walk. These are points of interest 17 to 21 below. Magnificence and luxury on this world-famous avenue
- or go down to Concorde and the Jardin des Tuileries (2 km). The “descent” of the Champs-Elysées from Avenue George-V towards Concorde is the subject of most of the Arc-de-Triomphe to Place-de-la-Concorde Promenade. This is another 2 km walk that takes you to the Place de la Concorde and the Jardins des Tuileries.
Extra: Relaxation Breaks along the Walk from Palais-de-Chaillot to Arc-de-Triomphe
In addition, we’ve added “Relaxation breaks” to this walk (not finished yet). These are our list of recommended and rated stores and merchants that you’ll come across along the walk. It’s a great opportunity to shop on the avenue, eat, drink and relax with merchants chosen (by the tourists who have preceded you) for the quality of their welcome and the services they offer. This list is under construction, but is already available in the “Champs-Elysées” section of the walk. Click on “Shops on the Champs-Elysées: list of 100 stores to visit“.
Note that the available list includes restaurants, cafés and luxury stores located around and near the Place Charles de Gaulle and the Arc-de-Triomphe: perhaps this is a good opportunity to visit them after you’ve finished your walk!
To continue your wanderings in Paris…
You can continue your tour of Paris first along the Champs-Elysées to Place de la Concorde (Walk Arc-de-Triomphe to Place-de-la-Concorde via the Champs-Elysées Avenue). From Concord Square you have two more options:

For the first walk above arriving at the Louvre, you can extend this walk with the following “Stroll in the Ile-de-la-Cité of Paris, 800 year history, which will allow you to admire (and visit if you wish) the Sainte Chapelle, the Palais de Justice, the Conciergerie and enjoy the Vert-Galant Square, from which a cruise on the Seine departs.
To complete the visit of this part of Paris, an other visit starts about 400 m from the Ile-de-la-Cité qat Pompidou Museum called Walk from Pompidou-museum to the Bastille via the Marais. This walk crosses the typical Marais district from west to east, ending at the historic Place de la Bastille.
