Organizing your stay in Paris is hard work, because there are so many things to see and do in such a short space of time. You won’t be able to see everything. But how and what to choose?
We put our experience and our Paris database at your disposal, free of charge, to help you pre-define what you can see during a 2 to 10-day stay that also meets your travel requirements.
In response to the form below we will send you within 72 hours a list of visits and activities to do during your stay in Paris, with adresses and bookings if required. This form will enable you to make a personalized selection of “things to see” based on your answers, make the reservation in advance to avoid “no longer available” or “long waiting lines” . Of course, there’s no obligation on your part. And you may or may not use our suggestions when you’re in Paris.
We also organize trips to Paris on request. We use our experience and the full range of our databases to put together a trip where every hour is used to see and visit without rushing. In the end, we submit a detailed plan for you to amend. All you have to do is click for reservations, for your flight if you’re coming by air, your train, your hotel and the things to see and visit, complete self-guided walks, documented, historical and anecdotal. We even offer souvenirs in the form of artistic high-definition photos of all sizes to hang in your living room, right up to picture formats.
For example, a typical plan for a 3-day stay in Paris organized by us includes 5 to 6 “must-sees”, an in addition 50 to 80 “secondary points” to be seen during 4 to 5 short self-guided and documented walks (exclusive to Visitingparisbyyourself.com), a half-day of shopping or more, a Cabaret evening and a cruise. Do you think you could make all the interesting choices and manage such a 3-day organization on your own?
To “do” all this, without extreme fatigue or military supervision, you need perfect, professional organization of your limited time in Paris. That’s what we can offer you.
Our communications are provided in French 🇫🇷 or English 🇺🇸.
Tailor-Made Paris Trips
Why choose Visitingparisbyyourself.com to organize your stay in Paris?
Visitingparisbyyourself.com is a family affair
It’s a small but cosmopolitan family business with Dutch, American and French branches and diverse cultural influences. All those involved in bringing the site to life have a background as expatriates and/or international tourists. They have also spent many years in Paris, which they know like the back of their hand. In other words, we’re well aware of the problems faced by foreigners arriving in a country that’s not their own, without knowing much about the language. That’s why Visitingparisbyyourself.com sets out to explain and document in detail for its readers the Paris we love, in 21 different languages.
Our database
Some persons have noted more than 2185 potential points to see or visit in the city or Paris. In fact, nobody knows the real number. Our database includes over 300 points of interest located in Paris. That’s already a huge number, and to visit them all would take several months. We’re gradually adding more on a regular basis.
Each point of interest includes more than just its address and a few photos. Each entry includes its story, historical or anecdotal facts and practical information (opening hours, etc.). A mini-file that you can consult even after your return.
Our self-guided walks
Self-guided walk of our site Visiting Paris by Yourself (VPBY) are the most complete, economical and fun way to get to know Paris:
1. Visiting with a guide is the supposedly best way for sightseeing tours. But it comes at a cost, and must fit into a set schedule: your guide’s availability.
2. Walking or biking (or riding a scooter) through the streets of Paris is the ideal way to see and appreciate many more interesting things than by car, bus or metro.
3. Combining the two is the very economical solution we offer you in this section of Visiting Paris by Yourself: meticulously prepared walks, commented with precision and amusing as that of a “human” guide.. But this one is recorded in your cell-phone, available 24 hours a day.
We currently have 20 starting points for our walks. This number is gradually increasing. Each starting point is at or near the exits of museums, monuments and churches that are considered “must-sees”. After visiting these buildings, you can immediately set off on a relaxing stroll that will take you to the door of another monument or museum. And you’re right: we’ve chosen the itineraries of these walks to “intersect” with the so-called secondary points of interest. Each secondary point of interest also has its own entry in our database. No time wasted, tons more information about Paris than any other tourist on his or her own.
Each point of interest includes more than just its address and a few photos. Each entry includes its story, historical or anecdotal facts and practical information (opening hours, etc.). A mini-file that you can consult even after your return.
Visiting Paris on foot
Visiting Paris on foot is probably the best way to visit Paris. For a simple reason: the density of things to see is such that in 2 to 300 m of street, you will often find 2 or 3 points of interest that you can only appreciate by stopping, reading or listening to a related information. Visiting Paris is not about riding the metro, driving a car, scooter or bicycle, seeing “from a distance” or going in to visit this or that famous monument!
But rest assured. Our walks are short (1.5 to 3 km), take 2 hours to complete (so don’t rush), and for the most part include “relaxation breaks” along the way (to drink, eat, taste, visit galleries, etc.).
Make all the reservations you need for your stay
More often than not, tourists are lining up to enter monuments and museums. We’ve set up affiliations that allow you to avoid the queues by booking in advance. You’ll find the buttons for choosing the days and times of your visits directly in the monument posts. Please note that we have also grouped and themed all the reservations available on our site by clicking on → URL “reservations”.
Please note that our “reservations” service is not limited to visits to museums and monuments. It also includes bookings for transport (planes, trains, coaches and cars), hotels and day tours from Paris (visits to the Château de Versailles and other castles on the Loire River, Champagne cellars in Reims, Burgundy and Loire wines, Giverny and Monet’s House, etc.). We’ve even planned tasting courses (wines) or apprenticeships (pastry-making, baking, etc.).
