The Yves Saint-Laurent Museum

On October 3, 2017, more than fifteen years after the closure of the haute couture house, the Yves Saint-Laurent Paris Museum opened.

Over 450 m2, a constantly renewed presentation, alternating retrospective tours and thematic temporary exhibitions, reflects the wealth of the unique heritage of the Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint-Laurent Foundation.

The creative genius of Yves Saint-Laurent

The Museum of Paris gives an account of the designer's creative genius and the process of creating the haute couture collections. But more than just a monographic museum, it also aims to bear witness to the history of the 20th century and to a haute couture that accompanied a certain art of living that has now disappeared.

The staging of the presentations

Scenographer Nathalie Crinière and decorator Jacques Grange, who have both collaborated on numerous projects for the Foundation, have redesigned its exhibition spaces in the original atmosphere of the haute couture house.

The Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint-Laurent Foundation

The Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint-Laurent Foundation was created in 2002 as an extension of the haute couture house. Its main mission is to preserve and promote the work of Yves Saint Laurent.

Recognized as a public utility, the Foundation manages two museums: the Yves Saint-Laurent Museum in Paris and the Yves Saint-Laurent Museum in Marrakech (Morocco). It is committed to three main missions:

  • The conservation of clothes and accessories of haute couture and ready-to-wear, preparatory sketches of the collections, a documentary fund and various drawings and objects that testify to the creation of Yves Saint-Laurent;
  • The organization in its spaces, from 2004 to 2016, of exhibitions of fashion, painting, photography, decorative arts or contemporary art, or of Yves Saint-Laurent exhibitions outside the walls in France and abroad;
  • Support for cultural institutions and projects.
