Full description
The Mariage-Frères tea store in the Marais is one of the most beautiful of the 7 Mariage-Frère tea boutiques in Paris. They can be found in the tourist and luxury districts of the capital and also in the Parisian department stores, in London (1 store) or in Japan (5 stores). Each of these tea houses offers a particular setting where the spirit combines prestige, refinement and tradition. Mariage-Frères has been in the spice and colonial commodities business since 1660 and since 1830 in the Marais district of Paris. Its tea list includes more than 650 blends from 36 producing countries, encompassing all tea families.
Some of them in Paris offer a Tasting Room where you can enjoy the best vintages from noon to 7 pm. The productions of the most prestigious gardens are brewed behind an antique oak tea bar, a real preparation counter.
Mariage-Frères du Marais Tea Shop
The Mariage-Frère du Marais house is divided into three sections: at number 30 of Rue Du Bourg Tibourg, the main store, its museum and its tea room; at number 32, the precious assortments with, in particular, the tea boxes dressed in gold and silver; at number 35, the best-selling pre-packaged blends.
Gastronomy at the Mariage-Frères tea store
Gourmets can also enjoy original tea-based compositions offered for tasting: the French art of cooking is largely an art of the table that is expressed through "Cuisine au Thé", from salmon escalope with Matcha green tea to smoked duck breast salad with Montagne de Jade tea, or HÉRITAGE GOURMAND® desserts - tea sorbets, sunburn or Earl Grey madeleine.
The golden rules, dear to Mariage Frères, are rigorously applied, for the delight of lovers of the most refined and precious teas. The secrets of successful tea-making inevitably involve controlling the infusion time and the water temperature. In order to preserve the aroma of the tea, purified water is used. The leaves are also removed before the tea is served.
Adjacent to the counter areas, the lounges and restaurant, decorated with antique furniture, are havens of peace where lovers of flavors and gourmet palates can meet, savory flavors and sweet temptations.
The Mariage-Frères Tea Museum
The Mariage-Frères Tea Boutique in the Marais district of Paris houses objects related to tea and its history, as well as to the history of the travelers who criss-crossed the oceans, criss-crossed the continents and brought back teas from the most secret gardens. Richard A. Bueno, founder of the Mariage Frères Tea Museum, inaugurated on the occasion of the 137th anniversary of the company, has enriched the work of the museum with a constant concern for perfection.
This museum, the jewel in Mariage Frères' crown, takes you on a poetic and fragrant adventure of the spiritual beverage, through some of the rarest objects in the history of tea.
