Caudalie was born in 1993, during the grape harvest at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, following a meeting with Professor Joseph Vercauteren, director of the laboratory at the University of Pharmacy in Bordeaux. He explained that grape seeds contain the most powerful antioxidants in the plant kingdom, and are a treasure to be thrown away.

The first 3 polyphenol products - in 1995

These first 3 products (which still exist!) with grape-seed polyphenols were the ones that launched the Caudalie range. And so Caudalie was born. Caudalie is an oenological term that designates the unit of measurement for the duration of wine aromas in the mouth after tasting.

The eau de beauté was launched in 1997. Its formula was inspired by the Queen of Hungary's elixir of youth. It's also a unique product that has quickly been adopted by celebrities and make-up artists alike.

1999, the year of vinotherapy and the Sources of Caudalie

The founding family's background is in vineyards and Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves Grand Cru Classé in the Bordeaux region. While exploring the estate, a hot spring was discovered 500 meters underground. That's how we created the first Vinothérapie Spa. It's a unique place of well-being with vineyards as far as the eye can see, known as Les Sources de Caudalie. 2001 Caudalie Pioneers in resveratrol: A vine stock can live for 100 years because the vine naturally produces resveratrol to defend and regenerate itself. We were the first to patent this natural active ingredient with firming and anti-aging properties.

2005 and the sap of the vine: viniferin. Precious sap flows from the shoots of the vine. This sap - as women who work in the vineyards well know - fades spots on the hands and face and revives the complexion's radiance. 2012 - Caudalie joins "1% for the planet"

It means giving back to the earth a little of what it gives us every day. With this in mind, Caudalie dedicates 1% of its worldwide sales to funding reforestation projects. Since 2012, over 4 million trees in the 4 corners of the planet have been planted.

In 2018, new vinergy® patent with Dr. David Sinclair. A true longevity guru, he agreed to work together to patent a new molecule against skin aging. This new Vinergy® patent can be found in our new flagship product: Le Sérum Premier Cru.
