Caroline-Rafaëlle Van Hulle - Painter

Caroline Marie Rafaelle Van Hulle was born in Belgium. Of Flemish descent, she studied at Saint-Luc in Ghent, where she earned a degree in "Art Humanities." Rafaelle began her career as a model, which allowed her to travel to many regions of the world for ten years, inspiring her paintings. Passionate about decorative painting, she honed her skills in the "trompe-l'œil" technique, as well as artistic painting, by taking courses at two Parisian schools: the "IPEDEC" and the "Cours Renaissance." Once these techniques were mastered, she worked as a fresco painter in Prague, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Munich, Cairo… for about a decade. Upon returning to Paris, she settled in the famous artists' village of Montmartre, where her rare exhibitions are appreciated by a discerning clientele, as her old-fashioned oil painting technique does not allow her to produce much. Her paintings are often commissions. After a trip to Morocco, she fell in love with Tangier, where she frequently stays, and decided to prepare a new exhibition at the "Palais Minzah" in 2008, drawing inspiration from the local atmosphere. As a child, she admired the beauty of stamps and painted a series of over 20. In Paris, she continues to paint stamps from countries she knows well. To avoid mistakes, she writes herself postcards. After an exhibition in Montmartre, at the studio of "Gen-Paul," a popular painter and friend of Picasso, Rafaelle meets many local figures, and her talent and experience allow her to become a member of the Circle of "Peintres de Montmartre." She has the privilege of being the only living painter to have a work displayed in the permanent collections of the Musée de Montmartre! Rafaelle works in her studios in Montmartre and Tangier and is preparing a new exhibition.
