Balibaris - Men cloths, located opposite Place des Abbesses in the foot of Montmartre, is part of a new, dynamic chain dedicated to men's clothing. Its price range is mid-range.
A virtually non-existent men's mid-range cloths
Until the mid-2000s, men had two clothing options: "luxury houses" and entry-level brands. In between, there was an aesthetic and commercial segment that nobody had really invested in." Ten years on, while the mass market suffers (leaders Celio and Jules have recently been hit by low-price competition) and the luxury sector recovers (notably the LVMH group, which renewed its stable of designers in the men's sector in 2018), the Parisian intermediate labels are reaping the rewards of their positioning. Balibaris, for example, has jumped on the bandwagon of double-digit growth.
Balibaris - Men cloths and the nonchalant Parisian aesthetic
The clothes are classic but not intimidating, accessible and fairly priced. Abroad, the "Parisian" stamp is a guarantee of excellence. Paris is recognized the world over for its textile creativity. And when you've got a story to tell and you're "from Paris", you have the legitimacy and ability to seduce people beyond our borders.
Long before the archetypal Parisian, the myth of the Parisienne was fashionable.
It's the masculine counterpart to the Parisian elegance that preceded its international renown. These customers are looking for a combination of contemporary cut and beautiful materials. Sober, easy-to-wear clothes that appeal to a broad target. "These range from young graduates whose friends have organized a fund to buy them a birthday present, to professionals who can afford to work without a suit and tie.
Nonchalance, a discerning eye for cuts and materials, a natural laid-back attitude: French style is the motto of young French brands, including Balibaris. French style means choosing your clothes with care, your tweed jacket, your moccasins, your white shirt, your raincoat... and then wearing them for a long time without fear of mistreating them and thus giving them a patina. That's the beauty of French style.
The development of Balibaris
In just a few years, Balibaris has grown enormously, opening almost fifty boutiques in France and abroad. While it may be regrettable that the quality/price ratio is no longer as attractive (a brand that opens boutiques inevitably has to review its margins), Balibaris remains a brand that is much appreciated for its jeans, shirts, sweaters, coats and accessories. We take a closer look at the compositions, but we're rarely disappointed by the style and cut!
Evolution of Balibaris
Historically, materials were well chosen, but today we have synthetic blends (acrylic in some sweaters, polyester or polyamide in wool sheets). As for tailoring, it's still pretty good, and comes mainly from Europe.
Prices are on the rise, not least to enable us to offer regular discounts. For example, the brand's selvedge jeans cost €85 in the early days. Today, they are €145. But this shift in strategy has not influenced the style of the pieces, which are still good. In addition to the basics, every season Balibaris comes up with smart, easy-to-wear garments (aviator-type jackets, light-colored pants, corduroy garments, etc.). It's perfectly understandable that the brand should appeal.
That said, the brand is more recommendable during discount periods (at least 40% off) on clothing that is specifically "coup de coeur".
