At the very beginning of the 20th century, this "Art Nouveau" building on Avenue Kleber, built by the architect Georges Chedanne, was a hotel. In order to symbolize its modernity at the time of its construction, it was decided to decorate the building with figurines and playlets related to the emerging automobile.
