Hunting-and-Nature Museum, wildlife art, hunting and contemporary environmental thinking
The Museum of Hunting and Nature is housed in the mansions of Guénégaud (17th century) and Mongelas (18th century), in the heart of the historic Marais district. It is in this prestigious setting that visitors (whether enthusiasts or simply curious) can discover paintings (by Desportes, Chardin, Oudry, and Vernet), hunting weapons, stuffed animals from Africa, America, and Asia, and numerous works of art.
A unique documentary on the work of François and Jacqueline Sommer, animal art, hunting, and contemporary environmental thinking. Archives, old and current works, collection and exhibition catalogs, journals, and photographs are available to students and researchers by appointment only. Precious works from the collection are regularly displayed in the museum's galleries and accompany visitors as they discover the artworks.
