Forney Library

Founded in 1886 with a bequest from the industrialist Forney, it was intended to be a documentation center for Parisian artisans. Today, it offers art and architecture enthusiasts books and periodicals, as well as slides, posters, 18th-century fabric samples, furniture and ironwork designs, wallpaper collections, and more. Forney Library dedicated to crafts, graphic design, fashion and costume, iconography, the history of printing, and art in general.

Both a conservation and lending library, the Bibliothèque Forney specializes in fine arts, decorative arts, graphic arts, crafts and techniques, as well as fashion, advertising, and design. It is one of the City of Paris's major heritage libraries and is notable for the diversity of its documents: books and magazines, exhibition and museum catalogs, public auction and trade show catalogs, and more. It has one of the richest collections in France, including advertising posters, wallpaper, fabric samples, commercial catalogs, and postcards. It also houses original drawings, models and archives from professionals, and a considerable collection of advertising documents.

The Forney Library is part of the City of Paris' network of specialized libraries, with collections focusing on decorative arts, crafts and techniques, fine arts, and graphic arts. It regularly organizes exhibitions.
