La Butte Fromagère, the home of fine cheeses
The Butte Fromagère is the perfect spot to enjoy and savor delicious cheeses, whether you're on your way up to Butte Montmartre or heading back down.
Owner: Sophie Cormerais
After working in various food-related roles, including for prestigious caterers, Sophie Cormerais returned to her first passion: cheese. When she opened La Butte Fromagère in 2013, her main goal was to delight and introduce customers to original, high-quality products. Sophie and her team will guide you through the dozens of cheeses from small producers she works with directly or selects every week at the markets.
In a charming shop with a prairie-inspired color scheme, located on the western slope of Butte Montmartre
It’s hard to resist the display entirely dedicated to goat cheeses, the star of this creamery-cheese shop! But the boutique also offers many other cheesy delights.
The products are carefully selected from small producers and aged with care in the shop’s aging cellar. There’s something for every taste—and they’re all excellent.
La Butte Fromagère: for locals and passing tourists alike
Among the many small shops in the neighborhood, La Butte Fromagère is the mecca in its field, to the great pleasure and satisfaction of its occasional customers as well as its regulars. All benefit from the selection of authentic cheeses and the expert advice of Sophie Cormerais and her team.
La Butte Fromagère: a charming neighborhood cheese shop
Only quality products in a wide variety of cheeses. An artisanal cheese shop offering nearly 180 varieties. An excellent address in the Montmartre district. Warm welcome and expert advice!
Not to be missed: the Barisien, a Brillat-Savarin with truffles. And don’t forget their brousse, traditionally sweet but also delicious in its savory version, mixed with shredded beef rillettes—a brilliant idea! You’ll find a selection of small producers (Brie de Melun, Comté Marcel Petit, Roquefort Carles…) as well as exceptional cheeses (Rosbe au romarin, Brillat-Savarin with truffles…), nearly 50 varieties of goat cheese.
And don’t miss the MONT VULLY: a cheese rubbed with Pinot Noir, with a fragrant rind and a flavorful, slightly crunchy paste.
Not to mention our foreign cheeses: all the great Spanish, Italian, English, and Irish classics…
When it comes to dairy products, you’ll find everything from fresh cream and eggs to butter, not to mention yogurts and spoonable white cheese! And to elevate it all, refined jams and fruit jellies.
To accompany this abundance of cheeses to sample, a deli section (hams, sausages), wines, and beers.
