Museum of Hunting and Nature, animal art, hunting and contemporary environmental reflection

The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature is housed in the Hôtels particuliers of Guénégaud (17th century) and Mongelas (18th century), right in the heart of the historic Marais district. It is within this prestigious setting that visitors, whether enthusiasts or simply curious, can discover paintings (by Desportes, Chardin, Oudry, Vernet), hunting weapons, taxidermy animals from Africa, America and Asia, as well as numerous works of art.

A unique documentation on the work of François and Jacqueline Sommer, animal art, hunting and contemporary environmental thought. Archives, ancient and modern works, collection and exhibition catalogues, journals and photographs are available to students and researchers by appointment only. Valuable pieces from the collection are regularly displayed in the museum’s galleries and guide visitors through their discovery of the works.
