There is cruise and cruise-on-the-Seine

There are several types of “Cruise-on-the-Seine”, all of them are more or less equal in terms of services and price. However, according to your desires, the time you have to spend and your particular interests, a choice is necessary so that your cruise on the Seine is a success without any afterthought such as: “I could have found better”. This is the purpose of this article. We sift through 10 criteria that you can combine for your own final choice.

Types of Cruise-on-the-Seine, in the crossing of Paris

Basic Cruise-on-the-Seine on the Seine river

Cruise-on-the-Seine of “reference” lasts from 1 hour to 1h10 for all companies. The route is between the “upstream” and “downstream” limits of the city of Paris. Return to the starting point, no intermediate stop. A departure approximately every hour or every half-hour or every quarter-hour depending on the season and the shipping company (except in winter, one or two departures per half-day). No meals but snacks and drinks on most companies.

Note:

There are also cruises on the canals of Paris, less known and yet fantastic, romantic and more “Parisian”. They are limited to one or another canal and on the contrary, they are mixed “canal and Seine”. Their duration is about 2 hours. They are naturally small boats, adapted to the reduced gauge of the canal.
These cruises are really different from those on the Seine: banks a few meters away from the boat, passage of locks, bridges from another time, canal-tunnel under the Bastille and this in the middle of Paris. The port of embarkation is close to the exit of the Parisian subway.
We made a specific article for the cruises on the canals because it is another world to discover, more intimate, of another time.

Cruise-on-the-Seine with meal

The cruise on the Seine with meal lasts from 2 to 2h30. In general, two daily dinner cruises are scheduled: departure at 7 pm (with light meal) and at 9 pm (with full dinner).
Some companies also have a lunch cruise at 12 or 12:30 pm (check with each company).

Special Cruise-on-the-Seine

They are organized around a very “upscale” meal (“Ducasse sur Seine”) or a dance cruise (“Maxime’s” or “Le Diamant Bleu”)

Batobus or River Shuttle on the Seine river

Croisieres-sur-seine-batobus-avec-pont-neuf

It is in fact a cab boat, on a fixed itinerary, where you can embark, disembark and re-embark at the next passage, for the same price – over a period of 24 or 48 hours. Nine stops at the foot of monuments and museums. Starting point at 9 Place Henry de Montherland, Quai de Solférino, 75007. It can also be an original and interesting way to see Paris from the Seine and visit the city from each stop.

You’ll get heated boats in winter and a panoramic terrace all year round. Boats depart every 25-40 minutes depending on the time of year, but each new season brings new colors to the city’s riverbanks. Starts at 10:00am until 7:00pm in summer.

Rental or privatized boat cruise on the Seine

You can of course rent a small boat, or even a bigger one, and pilot it yourself if you have the required permits (size of the boat).

Rent a private boat on the Seine

But the easiest way is to rent a boat with its captain, of any size (up to several hundred passengers) and “privatize” it. This can be done for special personal events (weddings, birthdays, etc.) or professional events (meetings within a company). To make your reservation for a cruise on the Seine click on
